76 calorie tourtiere

Tourtiere is a French-Canadian meat pie eaten year round (if you're from Quebec) or at Christmas time (if you're in English Canada). Usually it's insanely calorie dense, but my version substitutes the meat for lower calorie textured vegetable protein (TVP), and only uses a top crust.








For the filling:

  • 2 tbsp TVP
  • 1/4 cup canned gravy
  • 1/2 tsp thyme or summer savory
  • 1/4 tsp clove

For the crust:

  • 1 tsp all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp oat fiber

  • water

  1. combine the tvp, gravy, and seasonings and mix thoroughly. 
  2. Pour the filling into a single-serve sized ramekin or custard cup. 
  3. In a clean bowl combine the flour and fiber.
  4. Add 1 tsp of water, and mix to form a dough. 
  5. Roll and shape the dough into a circle that is slightly smaller than the top of your ramekin. Poke a small hole in the middle to allow the pie filling to vent. 
  6. Transfer the dough onto the tourtiere filling. You might need to use plastic wrap or parchment paper to facilitate this. 
  7. Place your ramekin onto a baking tray and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. 
  8. Allow to cool before eating.
